A Golf Classic has been scheduled for May 11,2002 in Tubbercurry Golf Club. Teams of 4 are required. Those interested in competing should contact Club Treasurer Austin Walsh.  Your support would be greatly appreciated

Congratulations to all the children of the parish who received the sacrament of Confirmation in Tourlestrane Church on Sunday April 28,2002

Under 10 Training continues on Saturdays  at 11:00am.

The under 12 team defeated Ballymote on Tuesday last. Training continues on Thursdays at 6:00pm.
Hurling training takes place on Monday evenings at 6:00pm  for all national school children.

A speedy recovery is wished to Stephen Timlin who sustained a severe shoulder injury in the Under 16 game played on Friday last in Ballysodare. Stephen is a young member of the team with a very bright future. Many thanks to Leo Gaughan and Brendan Kennedy for their assistance on the night

A Golf Classic was held on Saturday last in Tubbercurry Golf Club. The winning golfing teams were 1st Place Raphael Cretaro, Peter King, Padraig McDonagh and Eamonn Gallagher, 2nd Place Tony Hession, Pat McKim, Frank Durkin and Peter Forkan and in 3rd Place was the team from Brooks Hanley, Sligo, D. Ely, N. Mullaney, B. Connolly and D. Timds. The best non golfing team was David McVeigh, Peter Molloy and Lorcan Brennan. The longest drive by a golfer was John Brennan and a non golfer was Gerry McGowan. The  shot nearest the pin by a golfer was Keith Feehily and the non golfer was Martin Brennan.  A special prize was given for the youngest golfer on the day which was Garvan Jones. A special thanks to all those who participated on the day and to the sponsors of the prizes, FBD Insurance, Aclare Plastics, Gillespies Sport, and Brooks Hanley. The Minor team were defeated by Ballymote on Bank Holiday Monday. Short a number of regulars due to the Sligo v New York match, a very young team fought hard throughout the match. The team will have a break now until after exams are finished.

The under 14 team had a good win over Enniscrone when they travelled on Friday last. With only a point between the teams at halftime Tourlestrane made full use of the strong breeze behind them and ran out worthy winners. The second round will be played in Tourlestrane on Friday May 17 2002 at 7:30pm when the team face Calry/St. Joseph’s

The senior team defeated league leaders Bunninaden on Sunday last in Tourlestrane. A weakened team forced to line out with the midfield duo of Eamonn O’Hara and Stephen King worked hard throughout the first half to lead by 8 points at half time. Good defensive work kept the Bunninaden  forwards at bay and some good scores by Shane Dunne, Gerry McGowan and the Walsh’s Eamonn and Matt led the team to a well deserved win. A speedy recovery is wished to minor Stephen Leonard who sustained a hand injury in this game. Round 6 will be played in Castleconnor on Sunday May 19, 2002.

Congratulations to the pupils of Kilmactigue National school on their recent win in the Cumann na mBunscol competition.

The under 14 team had their match versus Calry postponed due to inclement weather. The next scheduled match is on Friday May 23 in Tourlestrane against neighbours Tubbercurry.

The senior team defeated Castleconnor on Sunday last in windswept Castleconnor. Round 7 of the league in scheduled to be played on Sunday May 26 when the team travel to Keash to face Eastern Harps. Check the scoreboard section for further details

Congratulations to the children of the parish who will receive their First Holy Communion on Sunday May 26, 2002

The very best of luck is wished to Banada Abbey senior squad who contest the Connacht final on Sunday May 26 in Charlestown.

Bingo continues on Tuesdays at 9:00pm in Banada Abbey Hall with the Jackpot of €1,310. The in-house Lotto stands at €440.
